The Wales Coast Path
The Wales Coast Path has been developed by the Welsh Government in partnership with Natural Resources Wales (incorporating the former Countryside Council for Wales), sixteen local authorities and two National Parks. It has been split into eight separate regions and Carmarthen Bay is one of them. Ours is a coastline of great contrasts and takes in a range of habitats including fresh water marshes, salt marshes, sand dunes, pine forests and coastal commons all supporting a spectacular array of flora and fauna. Set within the bay is Pembrey Country Park – 500 acres of landscaped woods and parkland leading down to the little harbour of Burry Port. The idea was developed in part out of a desire to build on the economic success of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path National Trail. It is an amazing resource right on our doorstep. We once had people staying at Old Oak Barn who were walking the entire coastline of the UK and they used it as a base for a stint from Llanelli to Pembroke Dock.
When walking you can expect to see some stunning scenery. All the pics below were taken nearby!
