Behind Puffin House is a lovely walk which goes round the “Slash Pond” – this is the only evidence remaining of a coal industry in the area many years ago. The the large pond is inland from Broad Haven beach. This is referred to as ‘the Slash pond’ and was formed in the 19th Century by colliers digging for culm. The amount of coal produced in the Little Haven area was fairly small compared to the large amounts mined at the areas. It is an easy walk including with pushchairs and if you want to you can take a detour to the wonderful broad Haven playground. Children will love the great variety of play apparatus up there suitable for all ages too.
