Bargain Hunt Carmarthen
Bargain Hunt comes to Carmarthen on Saturday 2 April! The venue is The National Gardens of Wales which is of course just a few miles out of the town off the A40 less than 20 minutes from the end of the M4 and just over 20 minutes from Old Oak Barn!
The Gardens of Wales as they are known are a fantastic day out at anytime of the year and our visitors nearly always spend a day there. It is great value and suitable for all ages. There are often extra activities for children during school holidays. If you would like to know anything more about this event, please telephone 01267 220260/07790 293 367.
There may be over 100 stalls displaying their goodies! Both inside the Great Glasshouse and other buildings plus outside, in a Vintage Market which is being set up for the day. Opening at 10 a.m, we are sure it will attract lots of visitors. There is plenty of parking and refreshments can be bought from inside the Gardens. At this time of year all the Spring flowers will be on show and so although the beautiful daffodils may be passing there will be lots more plants and trees on show.
We are full booked that weekend for Bargain Hunt Carmarthen and until 10 April at the moment but you may well be lucky and find somewhere to stay locally or visit the gardens just for the day! But this is Laugharne Festival weekend too so get looking now if you want a weekend away soon! It is also the Wales Weekend of Adventure! when loads of extra things are planned across Wales so second thoughts definitely get booking now if you want overnight accommodation!
2016 – Wales Year of Adventure
Several months ago it was decided that to better promote Wales Tourism (which is one of the fastest growing across the UK) and to give a campaign some focus that 2016 would be Wales Year of Adventure. This theming of future years will promote many of Wales’s greatest strengths. There will inevitably be a focus on activities, events and attractions and on many of the unique qualities that Welsh tourism offers.
Here at Old Oak Barn it is true that our visitors often sit back and relax and enjoy the farm and woodlands on site BUT many do trek off for at least a day or two to do something specific – to have an adventure infact that they will remember for years to come! There is lots of information already on this website which has always had a focus on what there is to DO in this part of Wales. So if you are thinking about your next holiday and would like any help at all in deciding what to do or where to go then please get in touch.
Following The Year of Adventure in 2016 will be The Year of Legends in 2017 followed by The Year of the Sea in 2018.
In other words for next year at least Wales is being promoted as the world’s home of adventure. It is very exciting I think to see it has secured the backing of two massive extreme sportsmen and prominent adventurers, Bear Grylls and Richard Parks.
