Walking in the Preseli Hills in Pembrokeshire

There is nowhere better for walking if it is views you are after than the Preseli Mountians in Pembrokeshire. If staying at our holiday apartment in Broad Haven, Puffin House or at our lovely converted barn Old Oak Barn near St Clears it is only a 30 minute drive to the hills. After all the rains and storms of early 2014 we finally had a dry sunny day on Sunday 16th February and these pictures show the views towards and from Foel Drygarn.

The hills are mostly in the Pembrokeshire National Park and provide hill grazing for much of the year but there is some forestry too. This well known and much loved tranquil mountain is popular with walkers, with walks varying from easy to long-distance. They also have a wide variety of bird, insect and plant life, as well as features of interest to geologists and archaeologists.

If you want to do a specific walk then Derek the Weatherman has some suggestions! Maenclochog 8 mile walk shows a great route with a map and is one we can recommend.  Or just park beyond Crymych at the start of one of the footpaths and follow your nose!
